There are three tasks to the work list as suggested by the Chancellor’s Office: Methodology, Content Management, and Executive Reports.
1. Census of Ownership — determine who owns the Web site and who the editor(s) are.
a. Campus practices — CSUCI does a Web crawl, three levels down from the campus homepage.
b. CSUB creates a database to store this information.
c. Challenge — ensuring the information is up-to-date.
2. Server Resource
a. Other considerations — how many of the reports to be stored, determine disk space needed.
b. CSUEB deploys AccMonitor on a virtual platform.
3. Update Process
4. Set-up Schedule — monthly reporting seems to be the most common although the software allows customization to user need.
5. Identify Repair Process — what is the business process to get the repairs done? Who will do it? How will training be deployed? What is the timeframe by which Web sites will have to be fixed? What are the consequences for not fixing?
a. Campus practices — CSU Fullerton does a redirect of unfixed Web sites.
b. CSUCI does the initial fix and accessibility maintenance by owners.
c. For training on AccVerify/Repair CSUCI has the participants work on their own Web sites.
d. CSUB does one-to-one training and ensures that the version the Webmaster is working on is the same one that has undergone accessibility fixes.
6. Reporting Back — how to create the executive report-summaries.
1. Imbedding AccVerify/Repair — into the content management system so Webmasters can find the errors and fix them early in the process, depends on the CMS.
2. Check — when in production and repair (CSUCI).
1. Produce Summary — accessibility audit reports (Executive Reports) and post them to a central Web site for Campus Administrators’ and Chancellor’s Office review.
